Chris Skinner – Founding and Current Convenor
Chris Skinner a freelance science communicator (as FloodSkinner) and academic based in the UK. His geoscience specialisms are hydrology and geomorphology. He uses games to help people understand these topics and the computer models we use to learn about them, including using virtual reality to put them right in the heart of them. He likes playing city-builder games like Timberborn and Cities:Skylines, and collecting Warhammer models.
Malena Orduña Alegría – Current Convenor
Malena Orduna Alegria, a sociohydrological researcher originally from Mexico and currently based in the US and Germany. As a versatile environmental engineer, their work involves developing computer models that bridge socioeconomic, hydrologic, and climate sciences to enhance agricultural water management. Beyond research, Malena enjoys making board games on various scientific themes, by seamlessly blending science and art, and indulging in hobbies such as building with LEGOs and playing video games.

Liz Lewis – Current Convenor
Liz Lewis is an academic at the University of Manchester. Her research investigates how climate change is impacting hydrological extremes in the UK and around the world. She loves science communication and teaching and firmly believes that learning should be fun! Games are a hugely effective way of engaging with diverse audiences, simplifying complex ideas and starting deeper conversations about research.
Sam Illingworth – Founding and Past Convenor
